CUUBE™ 60 SERIES - SIERRA VISTA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
GENERAL INFORMATION
Building Name: Sierra Vista Elementary School Multi-Purpose Building
Building Location: Sacramento, California, United States
Project Type: 60-Series CUUBE™ structure, industrial kitchen, restrooms, raised stage
DESCRIPTION
Sierra Vista Elementary School is a public school in Arvin Union School District, located in Arvin, CA. The school serves about 750 students ranging from kindergarten to eighth grade in one of the most diverse districts in Central California.
GOALS
The school was looking to build a multi-purpose structure to function as both an assembly hall and indoor cafeteria during harsh weather. The building required both a large assembly hall and a full-service kitchen to meet the demands of a growing student population.
PROCESS
OVERVIEW
KYA worked closely with partners and the elementary school to complete the CUUBE™ construction project in under one year as the first milestone of a three-phase project. The contract also includes two more CUUBE™ classrooms funded by the Mental Health Grant and Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P).
CONSTRUCTION
PRODUCTS AND SYSTEMS
Sierra Vista Elementary School decided to move forward with a 60-series CUUBE™ steel structure due to the wide range of customization options. Amenities in the annex include epoxy flooring with homogeneous vinyl tiles, a raised stage, drop lighting, two bathrooms and an industrial kitchen equipped with a walk-in refrigerator. The large-capacity appliances also required structural irrigation for water and gas lines.
PROJECT RESULTS
Students and faculty were delighted with the new building added to their campus. KYA successfully constructed the new building just in time for the school’s next graduation ceremony. They were excited to begin using the space for their community gatherings, assemblies and events year-round. The CUUBE™ also serves as a new facility for community organizations who are thrilled to share the new building. Two additional CUUBE™ structures were also scheduled to be built to enhance the rest of campus as well.
