DESCRIPTION
Ulysses S. Grant High School is a public school in Twin Rivers Unified School District located in Sacramento, California for over 90 years. The school is home to over 1,800 students ranging from ninth to twelfth grade.
GOALS
Grant High School wanted to improve their frontage to better represent their school’s spirit. They were also looking to modernize by using xeriscape solutions to reduce maintenance and irrigation for all weather conditions in California’s Central Valley.
PROCESS
OVERVIEW
Leveraging KYA’s many partnerships, Grant High School was able to expedite the procurement of construction materials by utilizing streamlined delivery methods. KYA worked closely with selected subcontractors to relandscape all external lawns.
CONSTRUCTION
PRODUCTS AND SYSTEMS
The old front landscape was safely demolished with advanced safety precautions to avoid student traffic around the site. Old irrigation pipes were replaced and then reinforced with wood frames under the new soil, concrete and turf. The new frontage included fencing, new plants and driveway. The school logo and mascot were also applied on custom cut turf to boost spirit and pride for students, faculty and the local community.
PROJECT RESULTS
Grant High School was thrilled with the addition of their new colorful front lawn, adorned with the school’s logo and mascot to proudly welcome guests and display to the entire community. Students and faculty were excited to celebrate the grand opening of the school’s new frontage beautification.
