MAPLE FLOORING AND WATER REMEDIATION - VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL
As a result of a natural gas explosion, the emergency sprinkler system discharged causing Valley High School’s gymnasium to severely flood which led to mold and drainage issues.
KYA first removed the natural maple wood plank surfacing to inspect the extent of water damage and determine the best course of action. After inspection, it was clear that the 1/2” plywood sub-floor needed to be replaced. KYA then examined every board in the sleeper system and tested for moisture in the substrate layer.
KYA installed an updated sleeper system that raised the floor 20” off of the substrate as well as new 1/2” plywood sub-floor, maple wood plank surface, volleyball and badminton sleeve caps and metal transition plates. To finish, we then sanded and sealed the maple.
