KYA Celebrates Successful Groundbreaking and Lease Renewal at Lake Cahuilla Veterans Regional Park
$12 million investment will enhance park for veterans and the Coachella Valley community
Riverside, CA – MARCH 11, 2025 – KYA proudly sponsored the groundbreaking and lease renewal ceremony at Lake Cahuilla Veterans Regional Park on March 8, 2025. KYA worked alongside the Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District to mark the beginning of a $12 million investment in the park, ensuring its continued role as a cherished space for veterans, families and the Coachella Valley community for the next 30 years.
The ceremony featured remarks from local leaders, county officials, veteran representatives and Richard Contreras, Director of Government Relations at KYA, who also spoke at the event. The ceremony commemorated the start of major upgrades to the park, which will enhance visitor experiences, expand outdoor recreation and honor the park’s significance to veterans and their families.

This project is not just about upgrading facilities—it's about creating a lasting space where veterans, their families and the surrounding community can experience the beauty and serenity of the Coachella Valley. With stunning mountain views and endless outdoor activities, Lake Cahuilla will remain a cherished natural getaway for years to come,” said Richard Contreras, Director of Government Relations at KYA.
Following the ceremony, the community celebrated with a free event that included food and beverage, music and a bounce house. The celebration honored veterans and the local community while looking forward to the park's bright future.
The $12 million investment will include the reopening of the pool, new splash pads and an enhanced landscape with additional trees and greenery. These upgrades aim to provide a welcoming, recreational space for people of all ages while preserving Lake Cahuilla’s stunning views and natural beauty for years to come.
